The True Meaning of Smekday
If you enjoy reading fantasy/science fiction books, I would recommend that you read The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex. This story begins when an alien race, the Boov, kidnaps eleven-year-old Gratuity (Tip) Tucci's mom, and invades and conquers earth. Tip sets off on a humorous and action packed car trip to Florida to try to find her mother. The library has two copies of this book.
Paint the Wind
Paint the Wind by Pam Munoz Ryan is a story about a girl named Maya. She lives with her grandmother in California. Her grandmother forbids Maya to have any friends. Maya is so lonely that she creates an imaginary world in her mind involving horses. She eventually gets reunited with other family members and rides real horses. This is a great read!

A Week in the Woods
I would like to recommend reading a A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements. It is about a boy named Mark Chelmsley who moves to New Hampshire. He is in fifth grade and experiences quite an adventure at the school's science camp-out called a week in the woods.
